Terms of Service
These terms explain your subscription, our call handling service and the responsibilities you take on when you use Real Estate Answering Co. Read them before signing up, then try the browser demo to hear how your receptionist handles a call.

Your agreement with Real Estate Answering Co
These terms govern your use of Real Estate Answering Co, operated by TypeScience, trading as Real Estate Answering Co. When you sign up for the service, you agree to these terms, including the data processing terms below. The governing law for this agreement is the law of California.
We provide an AI receptionist for real estate agents and teams through an online subscription. You choose the business information, call instructions and routing settings your receptionist uses. You remain responsible for the business decisions made from the information it collects.
What your subscription provides
Your receptionist answers as your business after you forward calls to the number we provide. You can forward all calls or choose no-answer, busy or after-hours forwarding. It uses your onboarding answers and the website content you point us to when handling questions and taking messages.
The service collects caller details, asks intake questions and flags urgency using your instructions. It can book appointments into Google Calendar or take details for your callback. Urgent calls can go through a warm transfer or a page to your designated contact, in the order you set.
Call alerts arrive by email and app push notification with a summary, urgency tag, transcript and recording. You also receive a daily digest email, and your dashboard holds calls, usage and settings. Website chat and consent-based lead follow-up calls are available as add-ons.
Setting up your account and call routing
You supply your business details, onboarding answers and the website content you want your receptionist to learn from. Your instructions should cover your services, service area, hours, price policy, urgent situations and the people who receive urgent calls. You are responsible for keeping that information accurate as your business changes.
We provide a local number, forwarding guidance and a test call before you go live. You decide when calls forward to your receptionist and maintain a backup number or voicemail. If your plan lapses, calls go to that backup destination.
Monthly subscription and usage charges
Your subscription costs $249 per month and includes 500 AI minutes. Additional minutes cost $0.20 per minute and are billed monthly. You can review your usage in the dashboard as you decide how to route your calls.
The subscription renews monthly until you cancel online. Our payment processor handles billing; we keep no full card numbers in our records. Keep your account and billing details accurate so they reflect the business using the service.
Free trial and conversion to a paid plan
The free trial lasts 14 days and is capped at 100 minutes. A card is required before call forwarding goes live. The trial converts to a paid subscription only with a card on file, and we send a reminder email two days before conversion.
The browser demo lets you try a fictional real estate business before setting up your own receptionist. Demo calls and chats are recorded and transcribed to show you the result. Request a free trial; we email your sign-in link when your trial is ready.
Cancelling your subscription
You can cancel online in one click, and cancellation takes effect at the end of your paid month. Your subscription is month to month. Overage minutes are billed monthly under the usage terms above.
Keep your backup destination current when you cancel or allow a plan to lapse. Your routing choices determine where callers can reach your business outside the receptionist service. Account closure also starts the deletion timing described in the data section below.
Call greetings, recordings and instructions
Your receptionist announces at the start of each call that it is a virtual assistant and that the call is recorded. Those notices cannot be switched off. You are responsible for your business greeting, policies and the accuracy of the information you give the AI.
The receptionist uses the instructions you provide, so review how they work during your test call. Update your settings in plain words when your hours, services or routing contacts change. Review summaries to check whether callers are receiving the information you intended.
Real estate questions that stay with you
Your receptionist takes showing requests, messages and caller details while leaving agent decisions to you. It does not give opinions about a home's value, pricing strategy or negotiation. It does not discuss commission or compensation, and you handle buyer agreements before tours.
The receptionist follows the same information rules for callers and does not describe neighborhoods, schools or who a property is good for. Set instructions around the property information and business policies you can provide. Questions outside those instructions belong in a message for your review.
Consent requirements for lead follow-up calls
The lead follow-up add-on is limited to people who submit your web form and tick a consent box naming your business. You are responsible for the consent records covering those calls. The lead follow-up add-on does not call portal leads, regardless of the portal's consent.
Follow-up calls happen within about a minute, during the hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the recipient's time zone. The service makes one attempt plus one retry and honors opt-outs at once. We do not offer cold calling, list dialing or calls to purchased leads.
Acceptable use and suspension
You may not use the service for illegal activity, cold calling, robocalling, impersonation or harassment. Healthcare use involving protected health information is not permitted. Your instructions and use of the service must follow these restrictions.
We may suspend service for abuse. You remain responsible for the instructions, policies and consent records that you supply. Keep a backup way for people to reach your business as part of your call handling setup.
Emergencies and review of AI results
The service is not an emergency service or a replacement for 911. Its safety scripts tell callers facing gas smells, carbon monoxide alarms, sparks or burning smells, or flooding near electricity to get everyone out and call 911 or the utility from outside. For a fire, they tell callers: "Get everyone out first, then call 911 from outside." For a medical emergency or anyone in danger, they tell callers to hang up and call 911 right now. It then alerts you.
The AI can make mistakes, so you must review summaries and keep a backup way to be reached. Check details before relying on them for a showing, callback or other business action. Urgent routing follows the contacts and order you set; keep those instructions current.
Data processing on your business's behalf
Your business decides what caller information is collected and why, and we process that information on your behalf. These data processing terms form part of your service agreement. Your onboarding answers and call instructions tell us how to handle the information needed for your receptionist's work.
We collect account details such as your name, business, email, phone and billing information handled by our payment processor. Service data includes onboarding answers, the website content you supply, call audio, recordings, transcripts, summaries and caller numbers. Demo calls and chats on this site are also recorded and transcribed.
Calls, website and demo chats, recordings, transcripts and summaries of trial and customer accounts may be reviewed by authorized staff for quality, support and abuse prevention. Access is limited to those purposes.
We use service providers for hosting and storage, telephone service, AI voice and text models, payment processing, email delivery and analytics. Our AI model provider, OpenAI, does not use our API data to train its models by default. We never sell personal information or use callers' data for our own marketing.
Data retention and privacy requests
Recordings are kept for the period your business chooses, either 30 or 90 days, and are then deleted. Transcripts and summaries remain while your account is open. They are deleted within 30 days after the account closes or on request.
Customers, visitors and callers can send access, correction, deletion or opt-out requests to privacy@realestateansweringco.com. Callers can also contact the business they called. Our privacy policy and data practices explain the information we collect, including website analytics and cookies.
The service is not for children under 13. Keep the information you ask the receptionist to collect relevant to your business's call handling. Your business remains responsible for deciding what it needs from callers and how it uses the resulting messages.
Service condition and liability limit
The service is provided as is. Our liability under these terms is capped at the fees you paid in the prior 12 months. Review the service through the demo and trial to assess whether its call handling fits your business.
Your responsibility to review summaries and maintain a backup contact method applies throughout your subscription. Appointment details, urgent tags and messages should inform your work alongside your own review. Keep agent decisions with the people responsible for making them.
Changes to terms and contacting us
We notify you of changes to these terms by email. The date at the top identifies when this version was last updated. Keep your account email current so service and terms notices reach the right person.
